Centurion? - Indigo - 10-01-2018

So I'm considering getting a centurion style, but the main problem is I live in Canada. Does anyone know if Canada will cover a surgery with an American doc? Also, does anyone besides Dr. Peter Raphael do Centurions? I also want a mons resection, is it possible to do both? And what are my options for mons resection anyway? Like, is the mons resection covered in Canada, and who does it? I can't seem to find much on it.

Hey there, thanks for your questions.

"Canada" doesn't actually cover any surgeries. We have a provincial health care system, so coverage is different--and sometimes non-existent--depending on where you live. What province are you in?

Some provinces provide out-of-country funding. Ontario probably has the best coverage in this regard. (Out-of-country was just paused in BC.) If out-of-country is available in your province, you might be able to get it in a straightforward way, or you may need to make a case for funding that particular surgeon and procedure.

I haven't heard of any surgeons other than Dr. Raphael referring to their Metoidioplasty as "Centurion" but many have strategies for adding girth, such as Alloderm.

Mons resection is typically performed by plastic surgeons who offer Metoidioplasty. Some urologists offering Meta may not perform mons. Coverage in your province will likely be determined by an assessment of the medical necessity of mons in your case.

I hope this helps!
