Hi! I’m 21 years old and live in Mississauga. I’m scheduled for female to male top surgery on 1st of February from McLean Clinic in my locality. I heard the pain is much less than they imagined and I was happy. I’m looking around for more advice regarding how to have a good recovery. Any pre or post surgery tips that helped you have a quick recovery?

People experience pain differently, but for most guys Top Surgery causes low to moderate post-op pain. Your surgeon will provide with you information about recovery. I found the drains a bit painful and iced the incisions where they entered to provide relief. I kicked the codeine within a couple of days of surgery because I didn't like how it made me feel, and switched to Tylenol which worked fine. Don't hold off on pain pills if they're needed though: it's harder on your body to heal in pain. I also took Arnica to minimize bruising, to great effect. Hope this helps!

ps. The link in your post was removed because Dr. McLean's web people have repeatedly tried to spam this forum.
