Hi,
I live in Washington State. I have been looking for a surgeon for Top surgery who accepts Medicare. That is my only insurance. Does anyone know of someone?
thanks

Here's a list of surgeons who do top surgery in Seattle and elsewhere in Washington state. I don't know which of these take Medicare though. Best bet would be to crack the phone book and call each of the surgeons to inquire.

Joshua,
I just got off the phone with a plastic surgeons office assistant and she is going to talk to the person in the billing department on how to get medicare to approve the surgery, she told me to get the chart notes from my primary care Dr. sent up to there office. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Dr. Timothy Whitney. I am still waiting to see if Medicare will cover it, they called me and asked if i had counseling yet or if i started hormone therapy. I havent started either. so not sure what is going to happen.

WPATH standards don't require hormone therapy as a prerequisite to Top Surgery but I'm not sure about what standards Medicare follows in this regard. Most surgeons require a letter from a mental health professional prior to performing surgery, so that's something you may want to look into if you haven't yet.

I hope this gets covered for you!!

Great to hear that you're finding information to move things along, Ethan! If, through your process, you come across key info that you think would be helpful to pass on, feel free to open a thread on the subject.

Joshua
