Pioneer in FTM Top Surgery and Body Masculinization

Dr. Charles Garramone, DO, FACOS, stands out as a trailblazer in the field of gender-affirming surgery. He was the first surgeon in the United States to build an entire practice around performing FTM Top Surgery, setting a new standard for care when gender-affirming procedures were still relatively rare. Since 2005, he has focused exclusively on the unique needs of transgender and non-binary individuals seeking FTM Surgery.

While Dr. Garramone is widely known for his signature approach to FTM Top Surgery — a refined Double Incision technique that emphasizes chest symmetry and natural nipple-areola aesthetics — his contributions to gender-affirming surgery go beyond chest masculinization. His innovative ManSculpture® procedure has set the standard for Body Masculinization Surgery.

Reputation and Patient Outcomes

With thousands of FTM Top Surgery and body contouring procedures performed, Dr. Garramone is trusted by patients worldwide. His work has become recognizable on platforms like YouTube, where many patients showcase their surgical outcomes in videos often referred to as “The Big Reveal.” The consistent quality and natural-looking results have led many to call it the “Garramone Chest.”

Dr. Garramone’s ManSculpture® procedure uses power-assisted liposuction to create a sculpted, masculine silhouette by targeting the abdomen, love handles, and outer hips. Many patients choose to combine ManSculpture® with FTM Top Surgery in a single surgery for cost efficiency.

FTM Surgery and Body Masculinization Costs

  • FTM Top Surgery: $12,000 – $15,000

Out-of-Network Insurance Reimbursement
While Dr. Garramone does not directly work with insurance providers, his staff supports patients seeking reimbursement from out-of-network plans. After your procedure, you'll receive a detailed billing packet containing an itemized invoice (“superbill”), your operative report, and the applicable CPT and ICD-10 codes. These documents allow you to submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance provider. Although reimbursement is not guaranteed, many patients—especially those with out-of-network benefits—have successfully received partial or full compensation. Contact your insurance provider in advance to understand their requirements to increase your chances of success with reimbursement.
