Dr. John Pang, MD is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose practice is dedicated to providing comprehensive gender-affirming surgical care. Prior to joining Align Surgical Associates in San Francisco, Dr. Pang completed the Gender Surgery training program at Mount Sinai in New York. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH).

If you're interested in other masculinizing surgeries, Dr. Pang offers Body Sculpting and Facial Masculinization. He's also a member of Align Surgical’s FTM bottom surgery team and he performs both Vaginectomy and Scrotoplasty.
Surgery Eligibility
- Mental health letter requirements per WPATH guidelines.
- 18+ years or 17 years with parental consent.
- A mammogram for Top Surgery patients who are 50+ years.
- Hormone therapy for one year for bottom surgery.
- No bottom surgery for minors.
Insurance Coverage
Dr. Pang accepts insurance from numerous insurance companies
including Blue Cross and Blue Shield. If Dr. Pang is not
in-network with your insurance, Align Surgical may be able to do a
single case agreement to get your surgery covered for you. Dr.
Pang also accepts California Medicaid (some managed Medi-Cal plans
only.)
Booking a Consultation
Dr. Pang is available for phone, virtual and in-person
consultations. If you have insurance, the consultation fee of $50
may be covered. The wait time for a consultation is currently 4-6
weeks. Once you've had a consultation, the wait time for a surgery
date is about two months.
