My gender therapist is suggesting testosterone pills and eventual top surgery. I'm thrilled about it, but I want to be safe. Are there and good, experienced surgeons in Ohio that do ftm top surgery and can I see examples of the results?

ExclamationI would HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT take any sort of T booster pills or T pills period. It is horrible on your liver and can damage your entire system.Exclamation If you are not up for injections try getting on gel form T. Or you can get on regular T shots.

In Ohio there is a well known FTM chest and simple meta surgeon in Cleveland by the name of Dr. Daniel Medalie. Top with him is $6500-7500 (this includes anesthesia and facility fees and all post operative care) and he also takes insurance upfront but everyone has still had to at least pay $1500 towards the lipo that he does as insurance will not cover that portion.

"For more information please see my informational PDF by clicking on the button at the top of this page. Some patients are able to obtain insurance coverage for this surgery. This is typically quite rare and labor intensive for my secretary. I kindly ask all patients to be polite when interacting with my staff. We have a standard letter with standard codes that we send to insurance companies. The codes for the surgery will be simple mastectomy and nipple reconstruction (CPT 19303, 19350) and the diagnosis codes will be gender identity disorder (ICD-9: 302.85). Prior to sending this letter we require prospective patients to fax or e-mail to us some evidence that their company will cover the procedure. All insurance work must take place prior to surgery-we will not submit a letter or codes after the procedure is completed.

I typically perform chest liposuction on the sides, central chest and pre-axillary region during surgery. This is cosmetic liposuction and is used to enhance the aesthetic result. This is not covered by insurance! The fee is typically $1500 extra for this part of the procedure. Please do not ask us to submit this to your insurance-it will not be covered."

There is a $65 consult fee as well and he does not do over the phone consults. He has thousands of patients with youtube channels as well so you cna simple type in Medalie top surgery and they will come up left and right.

Your therapist may be referring to Andriol, an oral testosterone that seems to be gaining popularity. I've heard some say that because it doesn't stay active in your system very long, that it's safer to start with, easier to deal with any complications. In general, I question that it's necessary to be so cautious, but perhaps that's a good route for those who may be facing a higher risk of certain complications/medication incompatibilities/etc.

Dr. Medalie is a great option in Ohio. If you want to shop around, there's also Dr. Robinson in Columbus.
