Well if would definitely help if you were a bit more specific in terms of where you are, what insurance you are looking into, etc. For example I am in Northern CA, with that being said there are options of Medi-Cal, BCBS, Kaiser (which i have), and about 5-6 other private insurances which all mandated by state law have to include MEDICALLY NECESSARY Trans health care services.

Now say for instance you were in TX all the same plans maybe available BUT due to TX not yet mandating inclusive care you will most times then now buy into a plan that DOES NOT cover trans related care due to the exclusions they are still legally allowed to have in plans sold within those states. However if you have a job within TX that has one of said plans you have a 50/50 chance of they not having that exclusion BUT even if they did you have better chance of getting covered on case by case exception if you work close enough with HR and get Corp to submit an exception on your behalf. Which does work as I have seen with my own eyes this work and my buddy is sitting about 2 months post op phallo because of doing this exact things on a plan that excluded all transition related care.

I know for some this is NOT an option to open up to HR and Corp but to many others this is and by doing it this way you will pave a path for those behind you.
