I figured this may be of use to some here, so I am going to post my experience with a Hysto. I was five years on Hormones at the time and I had already had my top surgery.
Now, my case differs from most as my Hysto was unplanned and was required due to the fact that I had three Ovarian cysts about 3 inches in size.
I had whats called a "Robotic Assist Laparoscopic Hysterectomy" The main advantage to having the procedure done as a Robotic Assist procedure is that the incisions are smaller than traditional Laparoscopic procedure, as well as it helps shorten recovery time.
At the hospital I had it done at (I can provide the name in PMs if asked), they gave me the option of General Anesthesia or a Spinal Block, I opted for the General Anesthesia option, because I would prefer not to be awake for the procedure.
I was given an IV when I got there and given fluids. Shortly before I was due to go in for surgery, I was given a light sedative that made me feel numb to the world, I was awake, but I didn't really care what went on around me. After a few minutes, I was wheeled into the OR. They put a mask over my face, talked to me and out I went.
When I woke up, I felt like I had been ran over by a freight train, I was also doped to my gills. When I came to and had a chance to see what was going on, I noticed I had some oozing/blood on my gown, this is apparently normal as the incisions do that. The one that did it to me was the one below my belly button, they covered it for me. I started throwing up not long after, they put a patch below my ear and that didn't help. They gave me something in my IV and a sub-lingual pill (you dissolve it in your mouth), that unfortunately didn't help me. The reason I threw up was because they bloated my gut with C02 gas, which is apparently common.
I also noticed when I got up to go to the bathroom (I had to pee like a race horse lol), I noticed blood on the gurney I had been laying on, which is apparently normal and you will likely have some bleeding for a few weeks, I had to wear a pad (talk about damn embarrassing) for a few weeks. Important, regarding incisions, keep them clean and do NOT scratch them. I put antibacterial cream and band aids on them (I had four incisions total) to help keep them from having issues. I had an incision get infected twice, my upper left one, since they took the cysts out that way and the probes were in them, when something is removed through an incision, it is easy to get an infection.
I had muscular pain when I peed for about a few months after and I get it randomly still, I also still have visible incision scars. My testosterone dosage was about halved after the procedure as well.
