Hello everyone of the LGBT family and supporters. I'm in dire need to help my buddy Patrick Jones achieve his dreams. He's ftm and has been living with severe dysmorphia all of his life
From the young age at 4 he knew he was in the wrong body. In his preteen years, he began to chest bound, wrongly. Over the years, he kept bound and did it tightly with ace bandages. He did not have the support of his family and had to hide. His rib cage is now severely damaged and surgeons are quoting between $8500 and $9000 because he needs complete reconstructive surgery.
I have tried to get loans myself on his behalf (as he has as well). I have tried working myself to the bone to raise money but life keeps happening and all its done is cause him more pain.
He has reached the level in life where he is about to cut his chest open himself in hopes the er can save him and fix him under insurance. Watching his mental state diminish over this past year has been terrifying. He is in his mid 30s now.
He has been on hormone treatment to achieve much of his transition. But insurance just will not cover this surgery. We have kept appealing their decision but we are met with road block after roadblock.
Anything helps us. And it would save a life to reach this goal. I can provide the estimate from the doctors on an update soon once I receive it.
