Hey all, I would appreciate any help at all to fund my top surgery. I don’t have a surgery date yet but as of right now due to the requirements from my insurance company it is highly likely insurance will not cover any of my top surgery. I have a consultation next month. I’m super excited and would love to have the funds to set the appointment not long after my consultation. I’ve been waiting years for this.

I started binding when I was 14 behind my family's back. I used to buy binders off of Amazon with the gift cards I would get from Christmas. I used to bind so unsafely but now that I don't wear a binder 24/7 the dysphoria is hitting pretty hard. Sadly, due to not being on hormones my insurance will not cover top surgery for me, I also have not lived in the desired gender for a year full-time due to not having an extremely supportive family that makes any validation of how I feel hard to figure out. It makes me want to go back to wearing a binder all the time because it's just so hard to deal with the dysphoria, especially in the summer.

I know these are rough times financially right now but any help is appreciated.
Thank you so much, this really means the world to me.

Go fund me: https://gofund.me/27805e5b I also have PayPal and Venmo but are both linked to accounts with my full name so if you’d rather help that way send me a private message.

Hey there! Regarding the insurance company's requirement that you be on T... have you tried appealing this? Medical necessity can override insurance requirements. Meaning, if you can provide documentation that says that Top Surgery is medically required for you, regardless of whether or not you're on T, you may be able to still get coverage.

These resources may be helpful:
https://www.topsurgery.net/ftm-top-surge...e-tips.htm
https://www.topsurgery.net/resources/ftm...-guide.htm

While the WPATH Standards of Care (SoC) are recommendations and not rules, the SoC clearly states that T is not required for Top Surgery, so your documentation can include this, as well as letters from qualified mental health providers. The stronger your documentation, the better your changes are of winning an appeal.
