Dr. Christopher McClung

Board-certified Urologist Specializing in FTM Bottom Surgery

Dr. Christopher McClung, MD is a board-certified urologist in Columbus, Ohio who specializes in FTM bottom surgery. Dr. McClung is highly experienced with complex urological reconstructions which is an ideal background for performing Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty. His practice is now fully dedicated to providing gender-affirming surgical care.

After completing advanced fellowship training in urologic reconstruction at the University of Washington in Seattle, Dr. McClung went into practice with a focus on helping people who required advanced reconstructive surgeries of the genitourinary system. Eventually, trans men who were experiencing difficult urological complications from bottom surgery started seeking him out for repairs of fistulas and strictures. This led to the development of Dr. McClung's Reconstructive Surgical Arts practice which provides care exclusively for those seeking gender-affirming genital surgery.

Dr. McClung is a member of the American Urological Association and the Genitourinary Reconstruction Society.

Dr. McClung offers both Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty:

  • Metoidioplasty - Releases hormonally-enlarged clitoral tissue to create a small penis with an average length of 1.5-2.3" (4-6 cm) that has erogenous sensation and can achieve an erection without an erectile device. Choose from Simple Release or a Full Metoidioplasty that includes Vaginectomy, Urethral Lengthening, Scrotoplasty and insertion of testicular implants. If you are having a Vaginectomy, a Hysterectomy is required. Dr. McClung can arrange for you to have Hysterectomy and Metoidioplasty performed in the same surgery.
  • Radial Forearm Phalloplasty - The radial forearm flap (RFF) has a reliable blood supply and produces an aesthetically pleasing phallus that has erogenous sensation. Dr. McClung performs what is often referred to as 1-Stage Phalloplasty, where the initial surgery includes creation of the phallus, Glansplasty, Vaginectomy, Urethral Lengthening and Scrotoplasty. Insertion of testicular and erectile implants is delayed for at least six months. Dr. Santosh Kale is the plastic/microsurgeon who works with Dr. McClung on Phalloplasties.
